bcb within its R & D policy has developed a patent called “Method and System for the calibration of a plurality of heliostats in a thermo solar plant of concentration tower type”.

The Spanish Patent and Trademark Office (OEPM), has communicated to bcb the concession of the national patent 201530932.

bcb continues to be the world leader in the development and implementation of heliostat calibration, solar field vision and thermography systems for solar thermal power plants (CSP concentration solar) based on a tower.

Our company has realized for the solar thermal plants PS-10 and PS-20 of Abengoa Solar, and located in Sanlúcar la Mayor, in Seville, the automatic calibration, using artificial vision, of the 624 heliostats in the case of the PS-10, and 1,255 for the PS-20.

He has also participated in projects such as Gemasolar in Seville, Tonopah in Nevada (USA) and in the Khi Solar One project (50 MW) in South Africa, with external and internal thermography systems..

bcb has developed a custom-made, totally innovative application based on artificial vision for the capture, analysis and treatment of the images of the projection of the solar discs (PDS) of the heliostats on the target located under the receiver in the tower. Basically, it is about automatically adjusting the offset of one coordinate axis in front of the other, marked by a limit switch (each mirror has two motors, azimuth and elevation) of each of the heliostats.

It must be remembered that in the furthest heliostats, at a distance of almost 1000 meters from the tower, for example, a small error of one milli-radian means quite a few meters of error when concentrating its energy on the receiver, and both a reduction in the energy generated.
