On the occasion of the health alert decreed by the government to try to curb the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, we want to present you the solutions that FLIR and bcb have developed for the non-contact measurement of facial and body temperature, since we understand that this it is a matter of utmost interest given the rapid expansion of SARS-CoV-2 and international initiatives to contain the spread of the virus.

“Infrared thermography is a weapon against the expansion of the coronavirus.”

Among the detection / containment measures that are being established worldwide, the use of thermal imaging cameras with adequate features (A3xx series) and the bcbFaceScan software stand out, allowing rapid real-time screening of people (individually or in group) with high body temperature, to subsequently subject them to a more exhaustive check-up by health personnel.

The ISO 13154 technical report indicates that the measurement should be at the inner edge of the eye, being an area of 5 to 6 mm that can be measured correctly with 9-16 pixels. This level of precision is obtained from the thermal image resolution of 320 x 240, which is what all FLIR A3xx cameras have. Thanks to its different optical arrangements, it is possible to protect different inspection distances, the 25 ° optics and the 3 meters distance being the most effective.

The A3xx family is made up of the following equipment:

• FLIR A310, the basic temperature measurement equipment.

• FLIR A320, in addition to the characteristics of the A310, has an auxiliary interface for viewing and greater precision for reading.

• FLIR A315 which together with the bcbTempScan software constitutes the most effective thermographic system in the detection of fever.
