SOLAR THERMAL ENERGY

In 2014, Spain beats its record production of Solar Thermal energy, reaching 5.013 GWh of energy generated. This represents 2.1% of the annual electricity demand.

According to the Spanish Association of Solar Thermal Industry (Protermosolar), August was the highest historical production reaching 833 GWh.

Spain is now the world leader in both installed capacity and technological capabilities, and thermoelectric solar sector companies are beginning to participate in ambitious projects in many regions of the world. A leadership that has been achieved thanks to continued investment in R&D in the sector.

Also, thanks to the abundance of solar radiation enjoyed by our country, Spain can become in the future a major exporter of green energy helping other European countries meeting their interests.

The central receiver technology (or tower) with heliostat field is emerging with force and represent a significant percentage of future plants.

In addition to its engineering, consulting and input of wide experience, mainly in plants with big mirrors based on tower, bcb has contributed to the solar-thermal sector during more than 7 years throught the design and development of an application as automatic heliostat calibration system, and thermographic receiver analysis to measure temps with a small error, based on machine vision for the capture, analysis and processing of visible and/or IR images of the projection of the solar disk (in plants based in tower technology and mirrors).

Currently bcb is also working out of Spain in CSP plants under construction.
