Asturiana de Zinc invests one hundred million euros in a new electrolysis

Asturiana de Zinc gives an important boost to its production at the San Juan plant, executing an investment of more than one hundred million euros for the construction of a new electrolysis plant. It will replace two of the current ones, which had become obsolete, and will improve the efficiency of this section in San Juan de Nieva. The project has already been approved by the multinational Glencore, to which AZSA belongs, in Switzerland.

The new warehouse will be equipped with the most modern technology and will have digital processes to improve its efficiency. In parallel, the construction of a new melting furnace is also planned.

bcb received from AZSA last September, the request to carry out the project of a continuous thermographic monitoring system, in the warehouse to obtain electrolytic Zinc Zn and the temperature measurement in the overflow drawers at its facilities .

The project includes the supply of Teledyne FLIR brand thermal imaging cameras, of which bcb is an official partner (distributor and integrator); in addition to the implementation of the custom software bcbElectrolyticIR prepared for its simultaneous programming and management of the cameras.
The bcbElectrolyticIR system distributes with fixed cameras the thermographic coverage of the entire electrolytic bath area, delivering a unified image that represents a plan view for easy location of the short-circuit area.

In addition to detection, the system has the function of recording and capturing images by event. Alerts can be received through mobile devices or interconnected to the corporate network. It is also possible to link communications to other equipment by PLC or discrete signals.

Once again, at bcb we are proud and grateful to be part of innovative projects with high-value companies in the industry.
